Here comes "Birds of a Kind"

A new text by Wajdi Mouawad has come to us, and it's a great poem that gives wings to what we hope will be a great production. A strong and profoundly human story that moved us from the first reading, almost three years ago. We want to embrace all the life it contains and expand it onto the stage, like a cry of rage and pain, like an ancient question, like a song that pierces the souls of the audience with the force that pierces us. Here comes Tots Ocells, the new Mouawad from La Perla 29.

The characters of Tots Ocells try to make themselves understood and undergo hurt, seeking to explain themselves to know who they are, speaking to each other in their different languages, their worlds, their beliefs. An improbable love story and an explosion on a border bridge in Cisjordan in the impossible context of a war, will force two families to traverse the painful distance between familial love and the hatred of prejudices. Tots Ocells is terribly current, serving to help us rescue, from the ruins of two neighboring villages, the traces of humanity and possible reconciliation.

Something in our world turns upside down and will leave a mark that will endure forever. Wajdi Mouawad once again touches our souls and we feel the painful yet reparative echoes of Incendies, Boscos, Cels... from his texts to our reconciliations and relapses. Clara Segura, Joan Carreras, Miriam Moukhles, Guillem Balart, Marissa Josa, Xavi Boada, Màrcia Cisteró, and Xavi Ruano will give life to this great poem that spreads its wings at Teatre La Biblioteca.
Chance, beliefs, DNA, familial and cultural past pile up like layers upon layers of history that seem impossible to undo. And here in the midst, like the flight of a bird, a possibility for tenderness, for empathy of inflicted pain. The necessity, finally, to renew our promises.
